Museum of Applied Arts

bsovzc3wesThere are museums that contain great pieces of art and there are museums that are also pieces of art themselves. The Iparmüveszeti Múzeum belongs to the latter category. Especially striking of course is the roof with the green and golden coloured tiles. This wonderful art nouveau building was built from 1893-1896 by master architect Ödön Lechner and his pupil Gyula Partos. Yes, this is an art nouveau building but with an unmistakably oriental influence that is! Inside, you’ll find a collection of furniture, textiles and forged pieces. The museum’s open Tuesdays – Sundays from 10 AM – 6 PM (November thru March until 4 PM). It is closed on Mondays!
